For a Few Dollars More: Movie Review

Image
FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 4/5 The second movie in the Man with No Name trilogy brings back Clint Eastwood playing the lead character. This time, his goal is to get a bounty, but, there is competition. So he teams up with his competitor and the both of them try and get the bounty on the escaped prisoner. But the mission slowly goes sideways. The story is written really well. I feel like the western style of movie is something that is still enjoyable today and if you like slow movies with a good pace, this is one you will enjoy. Clint Eastwood is amazing as ever and the music is flawless. A great watch. Can't wait to see the final part. 'The good, The bad, and The ugly.'

Leo: Movie Review

Image
LEO: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 Coming off a disappointing Vikram, Lokesh struck back with Leo, which is in multiple ways a very very good movie. The story inspired by 'A History of Violence', is a gripping action movie that just keeps your eyes locked on that screen. The story surrounds a bakery owner Parthibhan who lives peacefully until he makes the news and people believe him to be Leo Das, a man presumed dead. The entire story has that mystery lingering till the end, is Parthi actually Leo Das. That is one aspect of this story i felt Lokesh hit the mark exactly at the bullseye.  The pace of this story is flawless, it is a fast paced movie right from the star and does not slow down at all. Anirudh just doesn't miss. He has created a banger album and banger BGM's for this movie and I hope he continues to do so. To the main question everyone had in their minds, is Leo LCU? Well, if you haven't been living under a rock, it is LCU. Thalapathy was given a marvel lev...

Kaithi: Movie Review

Image
KAITHI: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 4/5 The first movie in the LCU, arguable the magnum opus of the LCU so far is Kaithi. The movie that takes place over one night that weaves 2 - 3 different storylines together and in such an amazing fashion is just amazing. Karthi of course does not disappoint with his great acting. The gripping story of a group of high ranking policemen drugged at a party because one of the officers seized 900 Kg of cocaine from them and the police officer taking the help of a released prisoner, Dilli (Karthi) and the drug mafia trying to also get their leader out of prison where there is just a new constable and 5 college students is a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire 2.5 hours. No second is wasted, the pace of the story is amazing, no songs to add any filminess and a set of BGM's that make your spine shiver By far Lokesh Kanagaraj's best movie. A must watch.

La La Land: Movie Review

Image
LA LA LAND: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 4/5 This is a movie that will go on to become a cult favorite. The movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is just one that can be called a marvelous masterpiece. The movie about a jazz enthusiast and a girl dreaming to be an actor who fall in love and encourage each other to achieve their goals is a story that just touches your heart. The movie has a lot of long takes that span over a minute, which is a very tough thing to do but when done properly gives you something just mind blowing, and this movie gives it. The colour pallet in this movie is like no other, i think this is a colour pallet that will go on to become iconic and will be said in the same sentence as the movie itself. The acting was beyond great, and of course Emma won her Oscar for her performance here. This is a must watch movie.

Chef: Movie Review

Image
CHEF: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 This movie, is one to watch when you feel down. The story of a famous chef Carl Casper, who loses everything because of tweets, turns to the food truck business, through which he rekindles the connection with his son, and finally becomes his own boss making himself happy is a story that inspires. The cast consisting of John Favreau, Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo and even Robert Downey Jr. just elevates the movie with great acting. The movie handles the multiple plots and subplots very well in the limited 1hr 54min runtime. Honestly a great watch.

Death on the Nile: Movie Review

Image
DEATH ON THE NILE: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 The sequel to the Murder on the Orient Express brings back Kenneth Branagh and Hercule Poirot. This movies definitely better than its prequel. The cast being with a lot more stars who are actually interesting characters make for a good, enjoyable movie. The cast includes the likes of Kenneth Branagh, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright and Emma Mackey among others. The story is a lot more tense and you really feel the rush for time in this movie, which works very positively, the runtime was well thought of as no second was wasted. You find out a bit more about Poirot as a person as well as lose a few regular people and welcome a lot of characters you relate to. The camerawork was immaculate and honestly elevated the movie. Overall a great watch.

Murder on the Orient Express: Movie Review

Image
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3/5 The first movie directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also stars in the movie as the lead character Hercule Poirot.  This movie was one that you enjoy but also end up disliking at the same time. The movie has a great story flow, acting and cast. It is a star filled cast with Kenneth Branagh, Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeipher and many more. The problem with the story is that the only character which you tend to remember is Hercule Poirot, the other characters, even though they have an emotional connection to the story, don't end up being characters you remember from this movie. Overall a good watch.

Dune Part 1: Movie Review

Image
DUNE PART 1: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 The sci-fi movie directed by Dennis Villeneuve, starring Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Issac is main roles is one of the best sci - fi movies to ever come out.  This is honestly one of the best book adaptations i have seen. The story is not at all dragged and it pace is smooth and flowing. The acting is just flawless with Timothee again proving why he is one of the best. Zendaya and the rest also did an amazing job. Hans Zimmer's music adds a whole other level of elevation to the movie that you just tend to enjoy. The CGI is one of if not the best in movies, with the amount of attention to detail, you really can't find a point where the CGI was bad or even subpar. One of the greatest sci-fi movies you can watch today.

Blue Beetle: Movie Review

Image
BLUE BEETLE: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3/5 Blue Beetle, the movie starring Cobra Kai star Xolo Mariduena is honestly the best DC movie to come out in recent times, with the exception of Black Adam.  The movie is about this Latino college graduate, who is desperate to provide for his family, comes to be in possession of a beetle that ends up becoming his superhero suit and people in power try to get it from him. The first thing you realise is that a lot of the story is strikingly similar to Ant Man, but that aside, this movie is one to enjoy, with great CGI, visuals, action scenes and story telling. It isnt the best DC movie, but it is one of the most consistent story in terms of pace, I think future DCEU projects should look at the way Blue Beetle was made and how the story was told, because this way of story telling has a lot  of potential. A fun watch, honestly.

Barbie: Movie Review

Image
BARBIE: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3/5 This movie has a lot to like and quite a few things you will dislike. For starters, this has to be the most disappointing Greta Gertwig movie. Coming from the director of amazing movies like Lady Bird and Little Women, I have to say I am heavily disappointed by her work in this movie, but that is probably because of Mattel's terms but still one and the same. The movie has a lot of dragging in a lot of parts which make the 1 hour and 54 minutes seem too long, even a 1 hour 30 minute movie would have been a better runtime removing the unnecessary drag. A lot of characters, ruin the run of the story, especially the Mattel corp. people, you tend to forget they exist at a point and then they just pop in, not too good for the story pace. But what you do enjoy bout it is the equalist idea, that both men and women are equal and that women should be able to do what women can. The movie strives to draw the line between women doing what they can and what they...

Beautiful Boy: Movie Review

Image
BEAUTIFUL BOY: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 The movie starring Timothee Chalamet and Steve Carell is a movie that is dark and exhibits some of the best acting I've ever seen. The story follows Timothee who plays Nic Sheff who gets addicted to drugs like crystal meth because he wants to escape reality, and his dad David Sheff who is trying to find a way to get his son (his 'Beautiful Boy') back from the darkness. The movie shows you the effect of drugs on a person and how it can turn you away from everyone you love, including your own family. How it causes you to think irrationally to the point where one is ready to steal just to get a high, how it brings you closer to death but you just don't care because you still get the high. The movie also portrays the father's love towards his son. Steve Carell did an amazing job. It showed how shit scared a father can get when his son goes the wrong way and the lengths he is ready to go just to save his son and just how pissed ...

Fistful of Dollars: Movie Review

Image
FISTFUL OF DOLLARS: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 In a day and age where westerns aren't a popular movie style, the "Man with no name Trilogy" still stands out as a trilogy of good western movies starring Clint Eastwood. The first part of this trilogy, "Fistful of Dollars" does not disappoint. In a world of bounty hunters and killing in villages, Eastwood's character comes to a town where 2 rival gangs, the Baxters and the Rojos are the two owners of the village. Hating each other but somehow making it work, each of them ruthless in every way possible. The man with no name, secretly works for both of them in an attempt to destroy both gangs and bring peace to the town. He makes some friends, a lot of enemies and kills a whole lot of people.  This movie brings out a whole other side of westerns where the people are more smart than ruthless. Their instinct isn't gun and shoot. It is planned placement and strategy. For a movie made in 1964, this movie is incr...

Enola Holmes: Movie Review

Image
ENOLA HOLMES: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 The movie starring Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, the sister to Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes is one to just sit and enjoy. The movie is all about Enola trying to find her mother the woman who brought her up after she went missing, while at the same time trying to break society norms by running away from her brother Mycroft who wants to make a typic old times British girl out of her. Louis Partridge's character is one you grow to love in this movie but even more than that, Henry Cavil's Sherlock Holmes is a fan favorite and will always be. The twists and turns and the crazy ending to this story is just amazing, it just sets up the sequel so well and this is a movie you can enjoy and rewatch.

Arrival: Movie Review

Image
ARRIVAL: MOVIE REVIEW RATING: 3.5/5 Dennis Villeneuve has done it again. He never fails to disappoint. The movie starring Amy Adam and Jeremy Renner is one to watch with full attention and not take your eyes of the screen. This movie is written so well. It starts off looking linear, but as the movie moves on, the timeline starts to seem blurry. Dennis has cracked the code to making a timeless movie, literally that makes sense only at the end. You start to feel confused through the second act but keep your eyes glued to the screen. The camera work is immaculate and the music ups the tension, giving shivers to the spine. This movie is one to watch if you wanna question time itself. A totally fun and great watch
